Erbium or Morpheus8: why at Taletsky we choose the erbium laser (what really happens to your skin after treatment)
Morpheus8 is one of the most talked-about treatments on social media. But what does it really do to the skin? And how is it different from an erbium laser? Here we explain in plain words how each treatment works, what you see on your face in the week after and what suits acne scars, large pores and loose skin.
- There is no Morpheus8 at Taletsky (and no CO2 laser). We work only with the fractional Er:YAG erbium laser by Quanta System.
- In this article we compare both treatments so you can see the difference. At the end we explain why we chose erbium.
- All before and after photos in this article are from erbium treatments at our clinic, not Morpheus8.
- Morpheus8 and the erbium laser are two different systems. Morpheus8 enters the skin with tiny needles that heat up at the tip (RF).
- The Er:YAG erbium laser works without needles: a strong, very precise beam vaporises an ultra-thin layer of skin in tiny dots. It is a controlled micro-injury: the skin heals, builds new collagen and becomes smoother. That is why it both tightens loose skin and improves acne scars, pores and uneven texture.
- After Morpheus8 you usually see small blood dots and sometimes "grid" marks. After erbium you see mild redness that fades within a few days.

Morpheus8: needles and RF heat
Morpheus8 is microneedling with radiofrequency (RF). We do not have it at Taletsky, but it is worth knowing because it is very popular. In plain words: the handpiece holds dozens of tiny needles. They enter the skin, according to the manufacturer up to about 4 millimetres deep. Heat is released at their tips, making the skin contract and produce collagen. That is why the treatment is mainly for tightening.
What you see after: the face is usually covered with small blood dots. Sometimes square "grid" marks stay for a few days where the handpiece touched the skin. Redness and swelling last from a day or two up to two weeks. With deep settings there are also reports of damage to the fat layer and loss of facial volume. So the treatment should be chosen carefully.
Er:YAG erbium laser: renews the texture itself
The erbium laser does not enter the skin with needles. It uses light to create thousands of tiny dots, thinner than a hair. In each dot it vaporises a thin, precise layer of skin and leaves very little heat around. The skin repairs itself: it builds new collagen and a new, smoother layer.
That is how erbium smooths the texture from the top and builds from within. It is exactly what depressed acne scars and large pores need. After treatment you see mild redness and fine dots. Most people are back to their routine within a few days.
Everything about the Er:YAG erbium laser →What do the studies say? A 2024 meta-analysis of 8 studies and 418 patients looked at fractional lasers for acne scars. It found that the fractional erbium laser improves scars with less pain and shorter redness than the strong CO2 laser. Simply put: a good result without disappearing from life for a week.
What suits you?
Both systems help tighten loose skin, but in different ways. Morpheus8 delivers heat through needles that enter the skin. Erbium works without needles: a strong, precise beam vaporises tiny dots of skin, and the skin responds with renewal and new collagen. In the same session it both tightens and renews the texture. When there are also acne scars, pores or uneven texture, erbium works directly on the skin surface and on the collagen beneath it. For acne scars, results usually show after 3 to 4 sessions about two months apart.

What about the CO2 laser? CO2 vs erbium →Why Taletsky chose the Quanta System erbium laser
After the comparison, our choice is easy to understand. At Taletsky in Tel Aviv there is no Morpheus8 and no CO2 laser. We chose the fractional Er:YAG erbium laser by the Italian company Quanta System, because it gives the right balance between result and recovery:
- A real result: direct work on acne scars, pores and texture, with new collagen from within.
- No needles: no blood dots and no "grid" marks on the face.
- Easy recovery: usually a few days of mild redness.
- Less pain: we cool the skin with cold air (Zimmer Cryo 7) throughout the treatment.
- Precision: depth and power are tailored to every skin after an assessment.
We prefer to do one or two more sessions and protect your skin and your routine. That is the Taletsky philosophy: a facial treatment that delivers results without taking you out of life.
A facial for men? Men's skin is thicker, oilier and often has large pores. Many men also still have acne scars from their teens. The erbium laser works very well on this skin too. The power is set in a personal assessment.
